Candidates for associate positions at Bamberger, Foreman, Oswald & Hahn, LLP are generally interviewed at the law school by a partner and an associate from Bamberger’s recruiting committee. If a candidate does not attend a school that Bamberger has scheduled interviews at, he or she is welcome to send materials directly to Laura Scott at lscott@bamberger.com.
Candidates in whom we are interested will be invited to an office interview, generally within three weeks of the first interview. We request that you provide an unofficial transcript and a short writing sample for our review prior to your arrival.
Starting salaries for associates are disclosed at the time an offer is made. It is our practice to pay a highly competitive wage relative to that of other law firms in the tri-state area. Bamberger also rewards associates for excellent performance through an annual bonus program.
It is our practice to make employment offers as quickly as possible after interviewing is completed, and not later than December 1 of the interview year. We ask that any applicant to whom an invitation for an office interview or an offer of employment is made extend similar courtesy, by notifying us promptly of their decision. We will generally commit to keeping offers open through December 15 of the interview year.
Associates are free to begin employment with the firm at any time after completion of the bar exam. Successful completion of the Indiana bar examination is a requirement for continued employment.
Bamberger pays for moving, relocation, and bar review expenses up to $2,500. We attempt to be as flexible as possible in accommodating the specific transition needs of new associates.
At Bamberger, hiring of associates is conducted with the long term in mind. Offers are made only to those whom we expect to eventually join the ranks of Partner in our firm. With this goal in mind, we focus on training and professional growth, rather than billable hours, in the early years of an associate’s career. We believe that proper supervision of new associates is fundamental to their professional development and vital to the continued good health of the firm.
The firm provides benefits including life and disability insurance, full medical coverage (subject to a co-pay) through Welborn Health Plans, cafeteria plan benefits, a 401(K) retirement plan, and paid parking.
Bamberger’s vacation policy operates on an accrual basis and offers associates two to three weeks of vacation per year, depending on length of employment.
The firm pays professional association dues for the American Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, and Evansville Bar Association, including dues for up to three sections within each. Other professional affiliations may also be paid, subject to firm approval.
Bamberger also pays for required continuing legal education and such other legal education as the firm deems to be in the best interests of the associate and the firm.
In order to encourage participation in community affairs, Bamberger offers each associate an annual allowance to be used toward dues and expenses in civic organizations.
